While in Southampton visiting friends in 2021, we took the chance to visit Pocock's Roses before heading home but unfortunately found that they were closed. Our luck was in as the owner saw us looking over the gate and kindly offered to open up early for us. This we greatly accepted. There we bought a mixture of roses that included alpha, bourbon, china and portland roses but there was one other rose that caught our eye and also made it back to Cambridgeshire with us: Showmee Music.
A ground cover rose, that grows to amount 80cm by 80cm, it was bred by Christopher Warner and has lovely red flowers with yellow eyes. Chris bred it by crossing Daily Post with an unnamed Len Scriven rose, Scribell. A real beauty, who's flowers when fully open are popular with bees, it has won many awards since it was creation. These included being named the 2008 Royal National Rose Society Ground Cover Rose of the Year. Its other awards included:
- Awarded a Gold Standard Rose at the 2011 Rose Trials
- Best Shrub Rose at Belfast 2013
- Silver Medal at the Australian Roses Trials in 2011.
